Southeast Minneapolis Renovation and Addition “Tangletown”
This Southeast Minneapolis renovation and addition to an Urban Tudor Style home, which was originally built in the 1920’s and was ready for updating and renovating. In order to satisfy the lifestyle needs of the owner, additional space was required. It was a project goal that the addition be designed in such a fashion that a casual observer would think it was part of the house from the beginning.
Two of the spatial requirements were added as a single design element. The architect achieved this by designing a two-story addition to the home, a new entryway with the new master bath above it. This required some reworking of the interior space to accommodate these additions but the resulting roofline allowed for the roof to be extended out to create the perfect covered outside seating area.
Another need was for a new, modern kitchen. This was designed to be attached overlooking the back yard of the property. The new kitchen is elegant with white enameled cabinetry and casework, a large kitchen island with seating, marble countertops, ceramic backsplash and hardwood floor. Not only is the Kitchen Elegant it is also functional with new appliances that would serve a professional chef. A cozy built-in dining nook was added adjacent to the kitchen which is the perfect place for your morning coffee.
